Hello all,
I have recently purchased a PSP and am considering putting on CFW. I have one or two questions however regarding this.

1) If I put on CFW does it still have the same functions as OFW? For example, can I still use Remote Play with my Ps3? can i still access the PSstore thru my psp?

2) Will it void my warranty? And is there a way to potentially throw off CFW and reinstall the OFW and have it working like it is now? So in case I crack the case or something or wish to have some part replaced under my warranty, that I can reinstall the OFW(in case of the CFW voiding my warranty)?

Thank you in advance for your help. Great forum! :)

(I have PSP model 2004 and on the box I have the letter G which, if i am correct, means I can still install CFW)

1) Yes it has all the same functions and more. You can use remote play psstore and all that jazz are still useable.

2) It would definitely make sony unhappy if you sent them a psp with custom firmware on it, but you can revert to the OFW the same way as going to CFW. The process is completely reversable.

Thanx very much Poggie! Much appreciated :) That gives me a bit more confidence to go ahead with the conversion. Do you have a CFW Psp aswell?

Yes, I have a psp phat with CFW 5.01 M33. Personally, I like M33 the best, I had CFW OE-A 3.03 way back when and I didn't like it as much as M33. I have modded many psp's including slims,(which is what yours is) and it's all fairly straight forward. BUT, when you said Your box has a letter G on it, that does not necisarily determine wether it can be modded or not.(I've seen some G versions that cant be modded, but some that can) It all depends on your mothermotherboard. If you have a TA-088 v3, your outta luck. BUT.. if you have TA-088 you can do it, You need to find out your motherboard model. Basically you should try it if it doesn't work take it back and buy a different one.

Right. But if it doesnt work, is it easy to put back the OFW?

If it doesn't work it won't change so you wouldn't have to worry about it. The CFW will either install or it won't, you will know if it works because it will ask you to press x to continue, but if it doesnt work you psp screen will just show blank. Are you modding yourself?

Thanks for the help so far! (I've heard modding only takes about 15-20 mins?)
