I want to first say that the homebrew hack was very easy to do once i figured it out, and did EXACTLY what they said it would. However i think i went into it with entirly too high of expectations. I went into it thinking "man this is gonna be great..free everything. free DVD player thingabob, tons of cool games....etc" The DVD player wouldnt work on mine (not homebrews fault my wii just wasnt right for it to work) And the games were more childish than i had expected and just not exciting. (again i knew what the games were going to be before going into it so its not homebrews fault) I guess i just read too many forums that praised the HBC and made me think it was more than what it is. ANYWAY im only out 9 bucks for game rental so it does'nt matter really. I encourage anyone who likes pac-man and tetris sort of games to download this AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

Thanks for bearing with me through all of my blabbering....how do you guys feel about the HBC?

I think the HBC is great. It has excellent apps and features.(The only thing I am waiting for is a good N64 emulator)

You have to keep in mind that these people don't get paid for their work. I may be a hobby to them, or they just like to experiment with the wii capabilities.

So yes, some of the games on the homebrew browser are just like some flash games. But most people use the HBC for emulators, media, and utilities applications

Yeah i know they dont get paid my point was mainly that I think the HBC is really over rated on all of these threads. And when i read them it made me think the HBC would be better.

When did i say i was planning on downgrading and blocking updates?

If this is such a dumb post then dont read it.

The Homebrew Channel might not be all it is hyped up to be but it is a nice application to have.

Especially for those that use applications like Gecko OS/WiiGator Boot Loader/Wad manager/Emulators. Yeah most of those applications can be installed via there own channel but there are those that like to keep as many blocks free on their Wii system for VC/WiiWare games.

The Homebrew Channel makes it easy to load the applications via the channel instead of waisting space by installing them directly to the Wii menu.

@ogilberry

What does the Homebrew Channel have to do with downgrading and blocking updates? You can pretty much do all of that without the Homebrew Channel. It does however simplify the steps so you don't have to use the Twilight Hack on each application you need to run. But Homebrew Channel is not a requirement.

Ogilberry idk you are making no sense. And larrylje...i guess thats why i didnt get that much out of it because i dont really have the knowledge nor the need to run the apps. you mentioned. I was thinking that HBC was all about games and cool apps like DVD player and stuff. I did enjoy HBC nothing against it its a great app. I just thought that it was something different than what it is. And again like i said in my first post im not at all trying to put down the HBC i am saying that i personally didnt get much out of it. and i am looking to see if anyone else felt the same way.

I know you can get DVD players cheap but i would rather have all of my system (wii, blu-rayplayer, DVD player, radio) all wrapped up in one

I read on a forum that the wii was a fully functioning DVD player but Nintendo just never programmed it or something to that affect.

I assume you download your movies anyway. Get tvversity and just stream them. All my games play perfect and this was the easiest hack I have ever done. Anyone who thinks it sucks because the games are childish is a moron. It's free stuff, which opens the door to even more free stuff. If you know what you are doing, it works like a treat. Get advice if something doesn't work.

No one is slamming you about it. You have your opinion and can be free to make it but so do others as well. So why start a thread if you don't want users to point out ways the application has its benefits. Seems like others are striking a nerve with you.

You can stream video to your wii. Why don't you do that? The wii wasn't designed for video, but the streaming works fine.
