MPEG1 video does not play in correct order!

I've been downloading the Ateam series 3 which comprises of 12 episodes. Been downloading it from bittorrent. Now I'm about 14% complete, but on looking in the ateam folder where its being saved to, the first episode measuring 436MB (53mins approx) is complete and plays in windows media player. I play the file and it all seems to be there but the file plays is a strange order and seems to jump about in time. So it manages about 2 seconds of one scene then jumps to another. This continues on and on. I dont know why that is. Never seen anything like it.

if anyone knows a solution or has had similar experiences please advise. thankyou.
