Hey guys,
i wanted to flash my lite-on drive so i got myself a CK3 Pro and a CK3 probe. Now everything looks fine but unfortunatly it isn't all fine.
The problems are with the PL 2303 USB drivers for the CK3 Pro i think.
I install them, plug in the USB but nothing gets recognized.
I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3
No COM gets assigned when i look in Device Manager.
Please i really need your help people.
Thx

I know nothing about the CK3 Pro or CK3 Probe but if you want the schematic for the tool I used (not my design) then send me a PM with your email address and I will forward it to you.

Already dit this a thousand times.
Could the USB port be damaged or broken on the CK3?
I just got it and never used it before.
If someone knows a fix for this, please tell me.
I also tried it on my other pc wich has Windows Vista and also no COM shows up. neither on Windows 7

if the usb port on the ck3 and your computer are good, and the cable is good, and your are powering up the ck3 with the white 4 pin molex connectore, and you are turning the ck3 switch to on..... then windows will see it right away and when the hardware wizard asks you should select NO to automatically look for driver and point it to the folder you downloaded the drivers to. it will install twice, two drivers to create the single usb to serial com port.......
are you actually powering up the ck3 at the 4 pin white plastic connector?

I'm running xp pro sp3 also and had a problem with the serial to usb (not using ck3, though). Have you tried just connecting straight to the serial. It worked fine for me every time so far.

yes....and i can eject the dvd-rom with it, and use modeb....the pc recognize the dvd-rom, but no com port.....so basically i can erase the lite-on and flash the new firmware, but the first thing i need to do is read the key, and this i cant do without the com port beeing recognized...

Try another mini USB cable. It works for me.
I had the same problems when using the original mini USB cable from the CK3 Pro kit.

The cable only go's in one way its got groves in it. I think its got just crappy build quality I could have done a better job in my garden shed with a hammer and nails. But not to worry the shop I bought it from agreed to send me a new one

that's true...they could at least make a box and put in the ck3...in this state, let's call it "naked" state, everyone could scratch or break even without not knowing....i think everyone can agree that paying some money extra to make a box for it would be great....
but you said that the cable is going only one way in....well, look at the cable of the ck3 probe, it has 2 ways of putting in, and i read on some web sites that if you put it in the wrong way you can burn the ck3 pro or probe....maybe i did that...dunno...didnt realize
