Hi.
I installed the homebrew channel and gecko os just so I could play Guitar hero 80s. Backup dvds load correctly using gecko, but GH 80s freezes the wii in the loading screen. I tried my sd card in a friend's wii and the game loaded fine, so the problem is not the gecko installation. I tried other trucha signed games, and they load in my friend's wii (with my sd card), but not on mine. I tried different settings in gecko, but nothing seems to work.

In short, My wii (using gecko) only loads normal backups, not trucha signed games (freezes in the loading screen).

Anybody have any ideas? Does it matter what modchip I'm using?

This is what I have right now:
Homebrew Channel 1.01
Gecko Os 1.07b
wii firmware 3.3U
WiiFree modchip

He uses Wiikey, and his firmware is the same as mine (3.3u).
That's what I would like to know. Does the chip matter at all using gecko?

That's the same conclusion I arrived at. But before changing the chip, I really would like to know if this kind of thing has happened to anyone else. Is the chip really a concern when using gecko?

3.3U firmware blocks trucha, which is why I'm still at 3.2U.

The modchip allows your friends wii to bypass the disc sign checking (I'm assuming).

So unless you want to get a modchip, you should downgrade your firmware with Waninkoko's downgrader.

Really. I read somewhere else in this forum that gecko os 1.07b works with 3.3u

It does. He doesn't apparently know what he's talking about. You should also install wii gator as it works much better. Check the oct 23rd fix. Everything still works perfect on 3.4 firmware. Run the fix and it will work even if you don't have a chip.

why? 3.4 works just fine. Do not downgrade!

Ok, I'll try wiigator. Any other advice? Questions?
I still would like to know why GH 80s won't load on my wii, but loads on my friend's wii. I'm sure it's not gecko os, since the game loads on his wii using MY sd card. What does he have installed on his system memory that I don't have?

Mod chips work different. You have to get your's softmodded correctly and wii gator is the most compatible with more games. I have personally used GH 80 with no problem on my softmod.
