Does it matter what firmware you are on when you try to use backups?

Is there a way to run backups without changing the drives and breaking the warranty?

Please these r quick questions and any help would be nice.

1)i think you should be able to use any firmware to use backups, just the latest one will HELP protect you from getting banned. Just use ixtreme 1.5

2)if u mean changing the drive as in using a different one, then yes. you can just flash it and keep the same drive. You can avoid breaking the warranty by taking off the warranty sticker or just buying a new one from ebay.

thank you finally someone that straight up answers my questions. but when i asked about firmware i was referring to xbox official firmware im new to this so i dont know what fw my 360 is on and am wondering if it is alright to officially update it off my vesperia game so i can play it

you have to flash your drive with iXtreme firmware (1.5 as of late december). you can't read backups with the original 360 firmware.

ha wow i must not be very clear you know how it says before the game starts you have to update xbox firmware? r they seperate firmwares like the drive one doesnt affect the other one

those are game updates they aren't firmware updates

okay thabk you so the xbox 360 firmware is unlike the ps3 or wiis because it is for the driver not the console?

the iXtreme firmware we use to play backup games on the console is written to the DVD drive only ... the console / motherboard and its software are unmodified.
