I've made some video tutorials for flashing the liteon drive, however at this point am still video editing them to make them more n00b friendly. So far I've only released the first part which is Xbox 360 Disassembly
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2260449/tutorial_how_to_disassemble_your_xbox_360_console/
guys i put the video on metacafe just cause they pay you for doing that, so please if you want to repost it--- please link to the video and don't repost it on youtube, cuz if i wanted so, would've done it myself
more to come..
EDIT:
TO CLEAR UP-- THE STEPS ARE
1.OPEN THE XBOX
2.OPEN THE DRIVE
3.DUMP THE KEY FROM THE DRIVE
4.GO TO WINDOWS AND USE JUNGLE FLASHER TO MAKE IX1.5 FROM YOUR KEY FILE WHICH IS UNIQUE FOR EVERY XBOX 360 --> YOU CAN'T JUST DOWNLOAD ONE
5.USE WHICHEVER METHOD YOU LIKE TO ERASE AND FLASH THE DRIVE
6.PLAY YOUR FIRST BACKUP :)

This is my first time trying to flash my liteon drive. The disassembly of the 360 looks easy enough, but I don't get the 2nd part. I can power the drive with the 360 right? And can I connect the drive to my motherboard? Also, What was that tool you used for dumping?

@fanofduke
yes you can power the drive with your 360 as in the video
as you saw i connected the drive to my motherboard with the sata cable and i'm reasonably tech-savvy so i was able to built a max232-pcb which has a similar function to the maximus xtractor
i can give you the one i have but i dunno bout buy/sell/trade rules on this forum besides i live in egypt/shipping might be nasty to US

its cheaper than the xtractor and all the "professional kits"
But how would you do the key dumping?
also is there a USB version? believe i saw some on ebay too.

im trying to understand it... sorry
ok, say i could solder the two points... does that mean, all i need to do is connect my sata cable to the dvd drive?

am assuming you mean by the solder the two points, u meant transmit and recieve from the serial adapter
no actually you would only need one point and that is the tx one which transmits to the computer
the other point is used for the "loopback test" which you do if you want to check if the interface is working properly
and yes after connecting that only point to the drive, all you need is to connect the sata cable and you are ready to dump.
if you do try, please make use of the video, it WILL save you alot of questions

RS232 Serial Port To TTL Converter Module MAX3232 LED, do i need to solder and stuff? b/c that seems kinda dangerous. Also, don't i need some kind of spear?

that is what i was wondering. but i think you do the soldering on the max3232 which is cheap.
like what wire do you use? and what do you attach to the end?

I found some hacked firmware via xbins. But when choosing it i Maximus xtractor It comes with an error that it connot be recognised.
But I have the key from my drive, but I can not save it.
But I must understand - Xtractor reader, can both get the key and also write the new firmware to the drive ? - or what else do I need now that I have the key

your xtractor generates 3 files, find them???
key.bin
inquiry.bin
identify.bin
and make sure they are the correct ones
ok
now go get jungle flasher from xbins and the 1.5 ixtreme firmware
then use jungle flasher to make the custom firmware, its very easy doesn't even need a guide. you'll be using one of the tabs
tell me how it goes
UPDATE:
check the first post added a link to them
http://www.maximusgames.net/360xtractor.php
scroll down to the tutorials part, aren't these the ppl that made ur shit. you should've seen what they have first

@lilmentor and fanofduke
the best you guys can do is not solder at all. you will be inserting a pin in a hole in the drive
you would come to the tx part of the serial device you have whatever it is, attach an alligator clip, and at the other end attach the smallest pin you have
but first you gotta have an xtractor or ck3 or the thingy on ebay i gave you a link to or something similar.
it couldn't be any easier!!

@retro_rc: i applaud your patience.
@rossoner9, fanofduke and lilmentor: send your systems to somewhere to have them done, i say this because i dont think any of you have the patience to read enough to get it done.
its a very simple process but you have to read everything through and pay attention to what you read and see in the videos.
I have lost all and any respect i had for this site!

Yes - it is very simple in jungleflasher - I have the cracked firmware, and the 3 files have been saved into a new firmware file
But under MTK Flash 32 I have the correct I/O port and under drive properties I can the the Drive. But when trying to Lite-on-Erase the error comes
Sending Lite-On-Erase request to port 0x0170
Drive returned Status 0x52
....................................
Device Intro failed!
I turn off and on the device very quick - but it doesn´t help
