I've tried searching this out, I'm sorry if I'm a computer dummy but I just can't find any good info. My questions are as follows:
1) I have a soft-mod on a 3.4u wii console and run wiigator backup launcher and the backups I've made from games I own work just fine. My question is why can't I get PAL games I d/l from the internet to work? I've tried running the ISO through wiigionfree and wiibrickblocker but the screen came out misproportioned and black and white. Then when I quit the game the wii stopped responding and I had to unplug it and plug it back in for it to work again. How do I fix this?
2) In wiigator, what is the option to reboot with hooks? What does this accomplish? I just can't figure out what it's good for.
3) This ones a bit off topic, but if I download a game that's been "cleaned by wiiscrubber" and burn the iso straight to disc, will this work or do I have to do something to it first? My main concern is bricking or semi bricking my wii as I don't think I would have a method of unbricking it, would I?
Sorry, this was long winded, but I would really appreciate the clarification!
And thanks to everyone so far, this forum has been an AMAZING help in getting me this far!

If you are using pal, hold in the "B" button when you run wii gator. Then choose the config menu, forceNTSC on. Then they will run fine. You have to do this on all PAL games or they will not run. Stick with USA if you are in the US and you won't have to worry about bricking. I run brickblocker against the iso if it's PAL. This will prevent it to update.

Look up, I already responded.
Thanks for the response, but it's not what I'm looking for. You only explained the "how", I want to know the "why". Like I said, I would like to understand what I'm doing rather than just doing it... As well, I still need an answer to my last question.
I would appreciate any help I can get... thank you.

PAL games can boot in 50Hz or 60Hz. If the PAL game boots in 60Hz then more then likely you don't have to forceNTSC. But if they use 50Hz then you need to FORCE NTSC which forces the frequency to 60Hz.
If you want to learn about bricking due to region then go to the Ultimate Sticky thread and read the guide there that answers why this happens and ways to prevent it

How about questions 2 and 3?
Rebooting with hooks will let you boot via the normal disc channel. Really this is useless till they can somehow auto set it with hooks during initial turn on or after you have went back to the Wii menu.
As it is now you have to start the WiiGator application then press B to reset with hooks enabled then start the game via normal Wii disc channel. But once you exit the game to the Wii channel menu you have to repeat the steps again to get the hooks reset again.
WiiScrubbed games are games that have had the padded era of the game deleted from it. This making the game disc data less so it is easier and quicker to transfer over file sharing. There is nothing that needs to be done to it except burnt to disc (it has nothing to do with region and updates so you still need to keep a watch out for that).

I'm simply trying to stay away from Pal but have some games that are. Just simply do not run updates and you're fine and use brick blocker.
