Right, thats a long term solution. You're going to have to update eventually if you want to play new games.

Just make sure you do check around before updating as there is always a chance that nintendo will roll out some huge homebrew-breaking firmware, but currently you can safely update just fine.

I said that its fine to update. I cant speak for future updates but for now its defiantly fine so long as you arent updating from an out-of-region game. So long as you're updating from the internet or from a game from your wii's home region its safe.
