So I have Wiigator's Backup Loader Gamma installed and every time I try to play American Idol it fails. I get past the screens that say Konami and stuff. But right before it reaches the title screen, an error message appears. Has anyone gotten this game to work?

Yes i have gotten the game to work. Now you need to be more specific when you are talking about getting gamess to work.

for ex,

what system are you on. Meaning wii 3.2/3.3/3.4 U etc. Or are you pal and Jap

what type of game are you on. Meaning 3.2/3.3/3.4 Pal

next the errors are you talking about. Are you getting An error 1 or error 2 code problem? which means the game goes error 1 cannot be read etc.

If so you need to use wii scrubber and the wii generic patcher to fix these errors before you burn the iso to disk using image burn at anything below 4x and verbatim - r disks.

do the following

INSTRUCTIONS

Download your wii .iso file

open Wii scrubber and load the iso file

go to partition two and find main.dol

right click and save file to the directory of your iso

open the main.dol with the wii generic patcher and click find 001, once found click fix 001 error. once done dont forget to save!

now go back to wii scrubber and right click on the main.dol file and click replace or load and select your modified main.dol file then after a few mins its done!

as an optional extra run the iso through wii brick blocker to remove updates that the iso may have hidden.

same steps to remove error 2.just repeat

I doubt it is error 001 or 002 since you said the beginning of the game starts. It could be possible the game was WiiBrickBlocked and needs a MIC update to be performed before the game can be played.

Other then that it might be a bad burn or image. Try re-burning it or downloiad a different backup and burn that.

I am almost positive there is a MIC update for it. Because I seem to remember needing to install the update for it to work.

If it was a 001 or 002 error message it would say it once you launch the game disc.

I am running on 3.2U and the game is NTSC. All I did was download the iso file and burnt it to a DVD at 4x. I did this with Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and DBZ Tenkaichi 3 and all of them worked perfectly. I also tried 2 discs, TDK DVD+R and Verbatim DVD+R. Both still had the same error.

The error message that I get before reaching the title screen is, "The game disc could not be read. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information."

It could possibly be the mic update that larrylje was taking about. If so, how do I get that update?

I will also try your method drakoniss. Although it seems unnecessary seeing as all my other games worked so far without having to use Wii scrubber.

Did you try reburning the game disc? Could just be a bad burn. If it was a MIC update issue it would probably just go black and not load any further. Seems to me a read error due to a bad burn.
