the 360 ius turning off because you probably have no a/v cables in hooked up, with hitachis, you have to have av cables plugged in because the process is longer than those with sammys, benqs, and lite-ons. i suggest, start the whole process and follow my guide, 79 tutorial
thanks for guide its about the same as others i have read, unfortunatly i didnt connect the av cable i put hdmi cable in, stupid of me also not to put an original game in the 360 before i tried to flash it just to check it worked properly as its second hand, i put an original dvd in it this evening and it worked ok but skipped a little, then i put in a dvd i burned from tv programs and it worked perfectly so i think nthe drive needs cleaning before i venture into the fw flaash again i also bought a ck3 xtecutor to make the job easier, thanks for the help and info, can i use a normal drive cleaner in 360??

I wouldn't put a dvd laser cleaner in your drive. might cause some problems. I would recommend using a q-tip and 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean the laser and if it still skips on movies.. you might try adjusting the pot calibration.
