Ps3/External Hard Drive Movie Collection Question

I just bought a USB WD 1TB Hard Drive. My idea was transferring my movies from my computer (mostly avi format) to this hard drive and connecting it to my PS3 and just leave it connected so I have my movie collection always on my ps3. My question is this.... Say I put avi's on the hard drive (obviously fat32 format) then go plug it into the ps3. They work fine. Now, I want to add more movies to the hard drive. So I unplug it from the ps3 and back into the (computer(which isn't fat32)) to add more movies into the folders. First, will this work? And do I run any risk of messing up the drives at all? I've read some places people are having trouble doing this.

with your setup everything should work perfectly fine assuming your codecs of your video files are compatible with the ps3.

i've been using my 500gb external with my ps3 and connecting it back to my pc which is not fat32 perfectly fine. it shouldnt be an issue at all.. just remember if you wanna use your external for other purposes you can't exceed the 4gb limit.
