After blowing up a npn transistor trying the free lite on dvd key retrieve instructions from xbox scene,I was determined to retrieve the key by any means the same night,I stripped a serial port adapter of an old phone and googled the datasheet as it seems very compatible i decided to give it a try connecting both power supply and ground to the lite on (3.3 V / GRND ) and using a kynar wire as a spear/ probe the first try resulted in an unusable key but while I wa connecting everything I had a hunch I was doing something very noobish by connecting the probe to rx of the adapter ("thinking" tx to rx).So afterwards I just connected the probe to the TX on the adapter and voila a valid key.After a couple of power cycles of pc and lite on with identicle keys I decided to flash it with jungleflasher and all went well.

Can you make a tut and maybe post a photo of what you did. I made the homemade extractor using the npn transistor, 1K and 10K resistor and it worked great but if there is another method out there I would like to learn.
