Hi,

Quick question.....

if wiikey is on latest firmware but you update to latest online firmware (3.4) on wii, why would most back ups give 001 error but some work??

I have read and read and i always download PAL version games which are fine on D2pro9 but my friend had to save £5 and fit a wiikey...

Is it the truncha signing or is he wrong and the chip is not latest firmware???

I always use verbatim discs slow burn and no probs on d2pro9..

Is there something in the 3.4 firmware which will mean my games wont work on d2pro if i update or is it as i suspect the wiikey he fitted has the problem??

Thanks

Al

Trucha signing cant cause error 001, only the generic "disk cannot be read" error.

I've only ever heard of 001 being caused by an older modchip with out of date firmware. Are you sure the wiikey is on the latest firmware? Try reburning the 1.9s update and reinstalling it.

[color=red]You should get Home BrewWare
(just google it)
Its cheap doesnt void your wii warranty and no hassle of a mod chip "wii key".

NO! THAT IS A SCAM!

All HomebreWare is is the homebrew channel and wiigator packaged and sold. That violates the end user agreement for them and is ILLEGAL!

If you're going to softmod you can do that for free.

To softmod you need a wii, an SD card and access to zelda twilight princess. You dont need to own the game, you just need it once.

It does not void the wii's warranty and does not cost anything. The ONLY way to boot homebrew or any non-official software on an unchipped wii is via the twilight hack or homebrew channel. Anyone claiming to have another way is lieing to sell you something that you can get for free.

And heres a guide to softmodding. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325

Nope, no firmware has ever effected modchip function. Even the first generation of mochips that were never fixed to get around the 001 error still work on the newest firmwares so long as you can bypass 001.

If any of you are wondering as I did whether the criticisms about Homebreware are true especially as there is no indication of whether any posters actually had tried the package. Here's what I found out.

Homebreware package contains the free Homebrew Channel, Backup Channel (and the cIOS code needed by Backup Channel). The code packaged contains all the functionality described in their marketing but is not written by them and is available for free download elsewhere. One of the authors has his own website, which discusses how Homebreware is not licensed to redistribute it, http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=120422.

However, what they purport to sell is a simplified guide that takes you through all the steps necessary to install that software on your Wii.

OK, my .02

I have a Wiikey original running 1.9s and Wii firmware is up to date.

Over the last week I ran a batch of 50 backups.

Occasionally I get a 001 error. Sometimes it's a DRE.

My non-scientific analysis indicates that this is an error that pops up from time to time and in my case, was not repeatable once I cleaned the dics. (i.e. all burns turned out to be good, discs just needed thorough cleaning.)

On some discs I would get 001 and some just the standard DRE. I believe that both are caused by unreadable discs.
