Hi there, can anyone please send me the link for the latest firmware and software to upload on the DM500c. I can't seem to find it on 4share.com.

Do I need dreamup.exe and erase.img?

Take a look at this link for the dreambox http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/84/647188, I'd never flashed them before and was asked to do 5 over xmas their all working I used the null modem method, read back through forum maybe as far back as page 30, and the guy who's fairly good there is Chris or CGscott look out for his posts, :) hope it helps.
