I think gloves would make things worse. Trust me, static isn't as much of a foe as you might think.

I just touch the metal on my case before I touch a part. My A+ teacher even says that's acceptable if you don't have a bracelet. I've been doing it since I started building PCs and I haven't fried anything yet, lol.

I have yet another question =/ Does the fan need to be facing up or down? It's on an antec 900 case, the thing that bugs me id that the letters are upside down..

antec 900 isnt the best for cable management, but its still a good case. are you talking about the large 200mm fan up top? i dont know which way its suppose to be facing but the top fan is an exhaust, so it blows out. 2 front ones are intake, the side fan on the window is intake and the rear fan is exhaust. i hope this is what your talking about.

Put the PSU upsidedown so the fan faces upwards. It gets far better airflow that way round. There are cases that elevate the PSU at the bottom so it can still take air from below like normal, but I don't think the 900 is one of those.

Alright thanks :) I hate to just have the computer there though =/ There's no way of knowing if I got a defective part or not, heck, I can't even know if my monitor has any dead pixels or anything. Sighs...
Does the fan suck air in and blow it out the back or is it the other way around?

This is why we have side fans :) - Both suck air in and blow out the back. Give them enough intake air and there's no problem, they both get their share.

Lol, I don't think there will be enough space for the side fan once I put in the big boy tuniq tower :)

should be getting money soon, I went with the Q9550, a 640GB Hard drive, and Windows Vista x64... I decided to go with the OEM version instead of the ridiculously priced Retail version. I have heard that once you install the CD into your computer, that if you change or upgrade any hardware it will no longer work anymore. Is that true?

Depends what you upgrade, and it's only for software incompatibility reasons, not licensing.

Well I was thinking of adding a 640GB Hard drive and a 4870x2 or better in the future...

That won't require a reinstall, it's usually only motherboards that cause it.

Oh.. because on nbcdotcom you can watch episodes there, but I have never been able to watch anything in full screen, youtube videos or full screen videos of any kind, will I be able to do that in a 22" monitor? What causes it to lag and skip?

Your internet connection, it has nothing to do with your hardware.

As far as motherboards and OSs go, I haven't had much trouble there. I usually put the new one in, start up in safe mode, and then uninstall the drivers and clean them out with driver sweeper. I've done it several times with no ill effects and full performance from all my hardware. Granted this has only really been going from an AMD board to another AMD board. Switching from AMD to Intel or vice versa might give you problems.

Ok, the LAN card that goes on my pci slot in this computer is 10/100Mbps or something like that. I see in newer motherboards, like the UD3R that I purchased, having 10/100/1000Mbps, does that mean that currently my internet is capped at 100Mbps? I have road runner high speed online, which I seriously doubt it being a slow internet connection.

Do you think that the cable modem that's provided by roadrunner may be bottlenecking my internet connection? It's big, black, and it's made by Webstar I think. Would buying one from Newegg make things better?
