I am looking at acquiring a 2nd power supply for when i move the 360 from one tv to another(dont want to have to mess with moving the power brick as well). Would you say getting a 3rd party brick is ok or could it lead to issues? I didnt see any on best buy website so where would be a reputable place to get one? the part number is x811687-004

yea and u have to make sure u get the right one also. There are 3-4 different types. The first model can be used on any system cause the PDB in the unit can step the power down if the PS is sending too much. but if u have a newer PS with an older 360 the plug will not even fit unless modified and even then it would damage the console cause it would not be supplying enuff power.
this is due to the changes in hardware from model to model. mostly the chips being reduced in size which doesnt require as much power.

there are 2 numbers on the brick, model dpsn-168cba and p/n x811687-004
it is the newer plug, with the silver plug, not the original grey plug so which number should i be looking at when searching online for one?

didnt know it was that difficult to read the item descriptions or ask the seller what the wattage on the PS is.

nah, i drank some coffee this morning, so thats probably the problem, lol. but i suppose its wise to tell him that there are different models, that would have sucked to get the wrong one and burn down the house or something like that. however, i dont see how you say its hard to ask if your not informed especially since theres an 'ask the buyer a question' link on every item.

actually "I" was talking about ebay. your examples were helpful. thank you for demonstrating your unparalelled skill at using the search function on such a sophisticated site such as ebay. without you I would have never figured it out. if you would like me to qualify my statement above I would have gladly done so. I meant that rarely "IN MY FRIGGIN EXPERIENCE" did they go for less than I have stated. Cleary the market demand is less now than it was when I was purchasing from ebay. To all that care and with all due respect to m/c wabashead I retract my above price quote. I probally should have said something like " I am not sure what they go for on ebay now, maybe you should check with dr. wabishizzle as he has mastered the art of searching on ebay"... I will think before I type from now on, I promise.

ok restating the question in the quote since it seems bd911 had a temper tantrum and didnt actually bother to answer my question or offer any usual info....so question was

thanks

You got it backwards. The original plug was metal, all newer ones are grey.

Zypher - 203 w
Falcon - 175w
Jasper - 150w
a 203w will work with both a falcon and jasper
a 175w will work with 175w and 150w
a 150w will only work on jaspers (150w)
Hope this clears up this needlessly long thread.
