I have received my modded 360 back after flashing and when I try to use back ups I insert the disc and it says "reading" then "open tray". Is the drive itself stuff? Or is it the burn?

Pretty sure its the burn. You need to bur at the minimum speed ( 1x).
What software are you using to burn?

Heres a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8N65lIb4Ps

I am using CloneCD and burning at 2.0-.24x. The 360 seems to play all my orignals fine so I guess it wouldn't be that right?

you can burn at 2.4x fine... just dont go any higher than that...

use imgburn to burn the disks... make sure to load the .DVD file into imgburn not the ISO file.

use abgx360gui to verify your ISO and create the .DVD file if necessary ... use autofix level 3

I am so f***** frustrated right now! I have tried all kinds of tutorials, used imgburn, xbc, cdclone, dvd decryptor and done everything correctly and still have not had a single successful burn. I have been through 17 discs!

could be the laser on your 360 needs tweaking.
Try your backups on a friends 360 thats got modded firmware and see if they work.
Hitachi drives tend to be a pain in the bum with this problem.
Ive had a few Hitachis where i have had to do the "pot calibration " trick and also build up a shim in the white laser support so that the laser hits the switch that tells it to read the game earlier.
Dont give up!

Try everything that ahs been suggested but check out the media you are using too! I use Verbatim and never have a problem, and I've used crappy Memorex though I've had good results.

My robot is mad!

Yup I am using verbatims made in Singapore and have a liteon flashed. The xbox 306 plays originals just like normal but when I put a backup disc in it made a "dun dun dun"(onomatopoeia) noise like its not hooking onto the disc or spinning it correctly. But the dvd drive itself can't be broken if it reads original right though? Thanks for your helpful replies so far though guys :)

u sent this somewhere to be flashed? or had someone do it? i am assuming this from ur statement saying u just got back 360 after flashing.

if so i would contact the flasher and see if they have any ideas or if they can take another look at it. They should have also tested it before sending/telling u it was good.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.
