WiiKey V1 ATMEGA8L No Upgrade + error 001

Hi, I just bought a pre-modded Jap Wii that was semi-bricked. I managed to sort out the semi-brick so my options/config screen works again.The Wii came with 30 real games and 15 or so backup Wii and gamecube games that all work burnt on Vibratim.

Now i'm burning a few games at 2/4x using a BenQ DVDRW with 8x DVD-R Tuff Disks.

I burnt 14 games and only 5 worked and the 5 were older types like Medal Of honor. The new games like FIFA09, NFS Undercover and the like get Error 001.

I've used Wii tools and done the error 001 removal and anti-brick patch and it still 001's.

Now i try to update the Wiikey just in case it's a flash issue. Padded, non-padded all singing dancing it will not for the life of the thing upgrade to the 1.9s firmware. All i get is error again when running the reset trick.

The Gamecube bootdisk works where i get DVD boot etc.. but don't have a pad just yet.

Has anyone got any help for this ?

If you're getting error 001 you need to upgrade your Wiikey. If you can't upgrade your Wiikey it's is likely a clone and you're at a dead end.

I am not familiar with the brand of DVD-Rs that you are using.

I would first suggest getting known quality DVD-Rs, such as Verbatim or TY Premium.

I've taken the wii apart and it's wrote on the chip ATMEGA8L , which should be real according to the fake v clone picture guides.

You can always use gecko OS to bypass the 001 check.
