Hi, any help would be appreciated, i have a 740g m2+ biostar motherboard, my bios detects the drive, i can even start to run slax from the xbox unit, so i know it works, it doesn't finish loading slax cause the lens is preatty beatten, but then i load slax from dif. drive, slax finishes correctly all the way to the login, i restart the computer and nothing, windows can't dettect it, i run slax 2.0.

Would it be better to run this?

I couldn't find anywhere if my board supported the drive, do anyone here knows for a fact that it isn't compattible?, and if so, maybe some links to forum threads or documentation explaining how they came to the conclussion it's incompattible

Get Slax 2.1 from xbins instead of 2.0
When you run slax you should get a message "Spinning up drive..." about half way through, and then after that hit eject and it will be in modeb
If you do not see this message and it goes straight to the Slax login screen then something isn't working or not compatible and Slax can't detect the drive

I actually have issues with my computer (side story, but the hardware does not want to work with each other), and I was never able to get ANY live cd to boot. So this obviously was a problem when trying to put a hitachi drive into mode b.

The way I fixed this was I purchased an xtractor. They can put any model hitachi into mode b. I've done it, so I know it works.

If you can't get the slax mode to work. Either try the pin method (messing with the power) or get an xtractor.

I actually managed to get it in mode B, it happened to be a missconfiguration in the Bios, which by the way was not documented in any tutorial, i had to chamge the embedded sata chip into IDE legacy mode.

Anyway, i feel like i´ve already lost my way into doing what i was doing and i kind of already gave up, so if anyone knows of a GOOD tutorial of how to swap a Hitachi, which by the way i already have the key, for a Samsung ms25 i would infenitely apreciate it

Why don't you keep on doing it? The hard part is done already! all you have to do is run firmware toolbox and it is flashed?!?! why would you quit

ALSO NOTE: guessswho, 78 drives only go into modeb with slax disc, pin trick and xtractor cannot put a 78 into modeb

Well, its just that i dont know what to do next, so far i have the key, and thats it, i would need instructions as to how to inyect it to the samsung firmware, I'm needing a guide like this

1.-Extracting hitachi key (done)
2.-How to inyect it to a samsung ms25
3.-Flashing the ms25 with the inyected firmware

any ideas, perhaps different guides talking about this?

Ok, i´m giving it a rest for tonight

i got this far

i need to

1 retrieve hitachi key (done)

2 flash samsung ms25(new drive), just like if it was intended to be used with original xbox

3 Inyect the key into the already flashed drive

so, now my prob us that after following 360mods.com textbook i get to setting up iprep to boot from usb,all fine here i reboot, boot from us and whenever i run:

dSam xxxxxxx xxxxx
it detects correctly mi drive, i input drive number, dsam starts working until i get the follo wing error:

unknown flash chip!

then it aborts and says the file doesn´t exist (because it aborted and didn't create it i presume)

any sugestions?

inject your key into the samsung firmware, spoof it as a hitachi 78, then i would use jungle flasher to flash the firmware
