hi, is it possible to by a sat receiver or pvr and use it on a sky dish? if so and anyone has done it could they recommend any equipment or point me in the right direction of how to go about doing it?

2. If so has anyone done it: Yes, lots of people
3. Could they recommend any equipment : Non needed if the dish is fitted.
4. Direction of how to go about doing it : Just plug the cable into the receiver.

5. You get only the FreeToAir channels.
6. A UK freesat box is maybe a good choice.

can it be done so that more than the free to air channels are available?

also if it is possible what is the best hardware option for it?

sorry for the noob questions, i actually have a couple of st*rviews at home and am delving further into the unknown :D

It is possible to patch sat boxes and if used with a motor setup you can get more stations although recently the number of quality English stations has been drastically reduced with many providers now using Nagra 3. Cheap Sat boxes the silvercrest from Lidl have patch firmware and a good place to start is satboard.co.uk
