I am currently torn between purchasing a new 360 elite with the falcon chip or an arcade with the jasper. $339 for the elite and $169 for the arcade. Besides the included hard drive and component cables are there any advantages of going with the elite over the aracde w/jasper? I will definitely get a 120 gb hard drive if I go with the arcade. Thx!

im not sure but u might want to check if that arcade unit has a HDMI port cause the elite will have one. but if u dont plan on using the HDMI or the composite then the only reason i see would be if u want the newer model for the newer chip size which uses less power and is supposed to be less likely to rrod. and if u plan on modding it there might be a chance the elite could have a Hitachi or Benq maybe instead of a lite on that the newer unit it probably have.
if u plan on buying a 120 for the arcade then add the prices together and see if its more or less than the elite. also if u plan on buying composite or HDMI cable u will need to factor that into the price as well.

good luck

Thanks! I think I'm going to go with the arcade jasper. I figure I can probably find a refurb 120 gb hard drive for a decent price somewhere and it is hdmi so a cable will be a cheap buy as well.

rather than buy a refurb 120gb, which is a bit risky cause you dont want the drive to fail...

all you need is the plastic enclosure... which you can buy seperately or what i did microsoft had an offer going for the launch of their new NXE... they would sell ya a 20gb HD and 3 months of xbox live for $30 with free shipping...

then off ebay you buy a compatible 120gb brand new bare drive for about $45 and install it into the plastic enclosure... doing this makes it about 1/2 the price of the "official" one from microsoft which is grossly overpriced..

Oh sweet! I had no idea that was even possible. That definitely solidifies me getting the jasper arcade.

Thanks!

if you do that is it still compatible with xbox live. i dont play on live much at all but i got my nephew a 360 for xmas and he only has a 64mb memcard and cant go on live with anything less than 128 of storage.
