I have a psp with firmware 3.xx but was upgraded to 4.05. I bought a pandora battery (which came from china) but decided to make the memory stick myself. I have a windows vista in my PC.
problem #1: I made the memory stick using afterdawn's guide and was successful. however i found out that i had one corrupted file. but the pandora installer and the kernel add ons are ok.
problem #2: when i insert my pandora battery, my psp power light turns green but the screen is black.
problem #3: the guide which came with the pandora lets me choose what firmware to load and install. At first I chose the "load firmware 1.5" then I chose the only eboot file that was included. but when i also choose "load 3.71 firmware" it would not accept the eboot file that was included.
problem #4: when i start the pandora.exe program, it tells me that i have a windows vista and that i cant run the MSPormat.
My question is, How do I know if my problem is the pandora battery that i bought? Since I have so my other confounding problems.. I am a newbie and would really need help.
If you download that file, then scroll down to the instructions posted in the comments, it will work flawlessly for you. As I said I followed the instructions on my main laptop (vista) and it didnt work, but showed no error message either.
When I used an XP laptop just to be sure, it worked fine for me.
The link above has the files for Phat and Slim PSP. I modded my Slim PSP which was on the newest official SonyFirmware using the method above, and it is the only way that worked for me, and ONLY when I created the MMS on an XP machine.
Let me know how you get on, the instructions above will work for you unless you have a TA-088v3 motherboard, but it doesn't sound like you do.
im sorry i took so long but ive asked anyone i know and they all have the vista software of windows. Is there any way that I could temporarily run a windows xp for example, from a external source without taking out my vista software... hmm seems this isnt possible. Anyway ill just keep trying to find the one laptop with an XP, thank so much for your help!

if you have 10gb of hd space on your laptop..you can partition it out and then install xp into that partition(making a dual boot comp)..then choose to boot from xp..then you could make the MMS from your laptop..then if you wanted just delete the partition and it'll be back to normal..
I see what you mean, I tried the O&O partition manager software to partition my C drive. I tested it first on my usb drive but the results are not good. What software do you use to partition your drive? Thanks!
