I just bought a psp 3000, i ordered it so i haven't received it yet. i was going to order a psp 2000 piano black but after reading other threads, i found out that the newer ones cant be hacked yet so i just went with the 3000. Since i bought the 3000, im hoping something will materialize with this new gripshift exploit which will allow CFW to be run on the 3000 model. furthermore, i would expect Sony to fix this exploit in later official firmware updates (which is why i bought my 3000 NOW).
now my questions:
what should i NOT do once i receive my psp 3000 so i will be able to mod it with CFW later when that time comes?
how is firmware updated on the psp? is it force updated whenever the psp goes online (like the ps3)?
do i update to the latest version or do i stick with the firmware it comes with? Lets just say the psp 3000 gets hacked in two or three months will it matter if i update my psp 3000 to the latest firmware Sony offers. Or will it be better for me not to update the psp.
If you restore the psp to factory settings does the firmware go back to the version it came with?
stick with the firmware it comes with, and it can't update automatically if it isn't connected to the internet....i get on the internet with my psp3000 all the time and it never automatically updates. btw, if your looking to play back ups, i suggest to buy gripshift like i did before the prices sky rocket...its in the final stages of testing and hopefully it will be posted to public soon!
hows it goin mate I just got a psp 3000. but thought I was buying a psp slim and lite. there lies my problem i found a flash for the slim and lite. and Im stuck. can the psp 3000 be flashed Ive read up on gripshit. so it will play backup from the memory cards will that not brick. the psp has the 5.00 firmware. thanks kevin
Do not update firmware at all, your best bet is to take the battery out of your psp and stab it a few times until you see it bleed. This will prevent two things. One, it automatically powering it self up and updating it self. Two, sneaking away from you and running back to sony for a update. The exploit is a software issue, which means it can be easily fix by a another software, thus in the form of a patch/update. Gripshift prices will drop after the patch hits the market. people with gripshift probably can only exploit hack up a certain firmware. This means, even if you have a first gen psp-1000 with the official firmware updated to whatever sony developed against the exploit, than they can not hack even those. However, if you got a psp-2000 with the TA-088v3 motherboard without the firmware sony will develop in the future against gripshift exploit, you can do the gripshift magic. lol, that means even 4.01 to current firmware of when i posted this reply can be modded. So if you want a new psp without all the junky scanlines of the 3000 get your psp2000 with your ta-088 motherboards today, lol.
hey guyod thanks mate,. Ive been scanning threw all these pages and websites discovered that myself I thought I was buying a psp slim and lite which can be flashed. Im goin to have to wait till they hack it. or i'll just swap it for a slim and lite. thanks but buddy how are you a newbie and you wrote that much text. how do you get higher then a newbie
