Hello,
I am able to backup games fine with my kreon drive, but whenever I try to burn with imgburn or dvd decrypter, the speed it writes at is different than the speed i specified. My dvd drive is the NEC ND-3540, and my media type is Memorex DVD+R DL 8x (I know I should use verbatim, but I need to burn through these first). I specify the speed as 2.4x and it usually writes 4.2/4.1 throughout the entire thing. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

hrmmm... dunno... are the disks working when you try them in xbox

perhaps try burning at 1.0 that may give ya an actual speed of around 2.4 lol

If the discs are DVD+DL 4x-8x then its only going to burn at the media's slowest capable speed.

So setting your burn software to 2.4x for a 4x disc is going to burn at 4x.

I've always burnt at 4x as that is my disc speed.

It is good practice to always burn your discs at the slowest speeds they are capable of.

If they are 2.4x discs then your burner just doesn't like that speed and there's probably not much you can do about it.

The discs work in the xbox, but I don't know if I should trust them to last the entire game without skipping or something; 2.4x is just overall safer. The discs say 8x; they don't really give a range, but one of my friends is able to burn them at 2.4x. Does that mean it's probably my dvd drive?
