I have the Twilight hack on my wii, with the homebrew channel and everything working fine. My firmware is 3.4 (US), so I had to go thru some extra steps to get the hack on it. Now though, when I put in Wii Fit (the actual game - not a backup), it tells me to do a system update. I can run the game fine with the backup launcher, but I am just curious if it is OK for me to do the system update or if it could possibly brick my wii. The update request only came up after running a game that had been Brick Blocked. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I am new to this, but this forum has been a huge help.

It is fine for now since your already at 3.4 and have HBC installed. Update is fine unless for example, you have a pal Wiifit and a NTSCWii. An update could brick you
It's fine to update it. You're on 3.4U which is the latest firmware available, so until new firmware comes out and is available on a game disc it's ok to update from the disc, it won't do anything to your Wii. But like Nels419 said, make sure the game disc is from the same region (NTSC for you) otherwise it will definitely cause issues! As well don't connect online and update it either (obvious fact, but should be stated anyway), at least not until it's well known what an update will do.
