you have to solder the two points on the r707 so you can dump the key, but other than that no. and yes you need either the 232 cable or a ck3 or comparable tool. i made my own, and it took about 5 minutes to dump, and flash. simple as pie.

i heard with the ck3 there is no soldering involved, do you mean i will have to use the probe stick for the soldering?

the probe goes into the hole under the r707 points and it reads the key from there.

Below is the link for the homemade tool I posted earlier in the week. Once built there is no need to solder your drive.

dude its not that hard. read a text tutorial, no point in trying to record the screen for 30 seconds. I used dosflash32 so just load that up, put your probe on the hole, hit read liteon once the key is read open the folder that the program firmtool is in and put your dummy.bin and your ix15-liteon.bin and click start>cmd>type cd desktop>then type in where you saved your firmtool folder to. then simply type "firmtool dummy.bin ix15-liteon.bin" it will create your hacked firmware you need to flash. then load dosflash back up click erase, erase your liteon firmware then click write. and write the firmware. and your done.

http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/N00B_LiteOn_Flash_with_VIA.pdf this one does mention when to put it in.
