After scouring through multiple forums and threads, I've resorted to reaching out for help. I'm looking for a guide, or for someone to link me to multiple guides that lead to the successful downgrading of my PSP/upgrading to a custom firmware.

-I am using Windows 7 (Pretend it's vista)
-I have a fat PSP firmware 3.51
-I do not have a spare battery and do not wish to purchase one
-I'd like to restore my battery to its original state after completion.
-I have 512 MB pro duo
-I do not have another PSP with custom firmware or 1.50 installed.

Thanks.

you can buy this http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-B...__EF000530.aspx it turns your battery into a pandora's battery and then turns it back to a normal one and you dont need custom firmware or 1.50

Thanks for your reply, but i'm not interested in buying anything. To my understanding this can be done without buying any additional products or services. My question is how?

Well, you can always hard-mod your battery. =)

All you have to do is open up your battery and on the inside there will be a little black block that reads, "IC04". On the side of that block there will be 4 little pins. Clip the pin that is farthest to the left.
As shown Here. Then tape the battery up with some electrical tape or whatever, and you're good to go. =)

That's pretty much all I know to do if you don't want to buy anything extra.

Alright thanks man. I had a fun time with that. I opened the battery and bleep the bleep out of that wire. Successfully installed the CFW. I'm trying to fix it with a pencil, but I kind of raped the battery a little bit. Any suggestions?

I believe you can run a program called, "Normal Boot Loader" from the memory stick and it will allow you to use the battery as normal again. You can get it Here.

Directions:
1.Double click ?install.cmd? in Windows XP/2K(Administrator).
2.Connect MsProDuo to PC via USB.
It is possible to use PSP USB Connection,or any USB MsProDuo Reader.
3.press ?Y? key to ?Are You Sure ?[Y]? message.
4.Disconnect MsProDuo after few seconds.

Or, you can buy a soldering iron and some solder and put that baby back on there for good. =) But.. There are rumors about the battery exploding if charged too long if you do it that way... lol XD

I'm actually using Vista/Win7, and this solution isn't working.

You'll need a Pandora battery.
In your case : no pandora = no downgrading.

Oh. Hmm. Well I can't seem to find one that works with Vista.

You'll have to look around and find one that works with Vista.

I'll post back if I find one. =)

Alright everyone, this post is to confirm that I achieved my goal. Thanks everyone for your help. I really should write an all inclusive guide to help everyone out. This is what I achieved:

-Successful downgrade/upgrade from SONY fw 3.52 to CFW v 5.00
-Achieved without the use of another PSP
-The use of nothing but the battery that came with my PSP
-I did not spend one penny.
-At the end of the installation my PSP and its battery are fully functional.
-Used a regular 512 mb pro duo memory stick
-I am able to play ISO files directly off my computer

If you'd like me to write a comprehensive guide, send me a PM or reply to this thread to request it. If I receive enough requests, I'll write a guide.
