Alright so theres 1000 different ways out there people say to do it. I want to know the easiest. I went out and bought an external DVD DL Burner and some blank DVD+ DL discs. Ive got IMGBURN To burn the iso to the DVD at 2x or 2.4x. Ive seen some people saying to use WXRIPPER and put a big size dvd into ur drive and then click stop and swap your xbox 360 game into it and do something with a magic # and create a .iso. But i dont want to take apart my dvd burner because its brandnew. so i was wondering if theres another way i can rip the iso so i can burn with imgburn. Ive ripped my game .iso file using img burn but i think i need to patch part of it somehow so i was hoping for some insight on this if any of you have the time to help.

And yes I have my xbox modded with iXtreme firmware.

Thanks, and ps. I did use the search button but couldnt really find that much.

You can buy one of the Samsung drives that are compatible with Kreon FW. Search in google for details.

Ok, here it is, the EASIEST way to do this.

go buy yourself one of these 4 samsung drives PREFLASHED with kreon 1.0 firmware. read up on the differences between them so you know what you are getting.

samsung sh-d162c
samsung sh-d162d
samsung sh-d163a
samsung sh-d163b

one of those 4 drives.

install/plug it into your pc. once tis installed and working, follow these steps.

the easiest way, as in the one that i've been using forever and never had any issues with, is this.

1. find, download, and install imgburn and xbox backup creator.
2. open xbox backup creator.
3. make sure your samsung sh-d16xx drive is selected in the drop down menu at the top of the screen.
4. put the original game into your samsung drive with the kreon firmware on it. wait for it to load.
5. once its loaded, select the drive tools tab, and click on unlock drive. give it a second and it will unlock the game partition.
6. click on the read tab, make sure complete backup is selected, and press on the start button. a box will open, select where you want to save the game, and press ok.

the program will then begin to make a backup image of the game. this will typically take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on the pc. make sure the hard drive you choose to save the game on has atleast 10 GB or more of free space, as a game is typically 6 to 7 GB in size. once ,completed the program will tell you it was completed successfully. go ahead and close xbox backup creator.

7. open up imgburn, and select copy image to disc.
8. in the top left corner, there will be an option that says source, and says please select file. click in the browse icon next to the box, find the image of the game you just saved, and double click on the .dvd file. if you click on the .iso file it will correct you and load the dvd file anyway, so dont worry.
9. insert a blank dvd+r DL disc into your dual layer burner, make sure under the destination option that your dual layer nurner is selected, and wait for the program to read the blank disc.
10. under the write speed option, select 2.4x. this is used for optimal quality of the burn. it may take a while, but it is worth the wait. higher speeds may not work, and will give you more problems.
11. once thats completed click on the start button and wait for it to complete. when its done ,take it out, make sure it works.

and there you have it. a complete backup of your original game. xbox backup creator will stealth patch your game for you, so there is no need to do anything further.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask. i've been using this process, with these programs, and a samsung sh-d162c for a long time now and never had a bad disc, and never been banned for using a backup disc. this might cost a little bit more, but it is so much easier then most other methods. enjoy!

thanks for the detailed reply! :D, is buying that type of drive the only way? Because i already bought one but I guess I could try to return it.

I dont see any of those drives on the samsung website, are they no longer being sold?

http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/type/...ticaldiskdrives

edit: i found it on this uk kreon site -> http://www.kreonxtreme.co.uk/Index.html I need an external one. Shipping is going to be a killer :(

i don't think they are being sold now. Try Ebay there are lots of drives there.

There's a whole guide in this PDF File: http://rapidshare.com/files/65484699/Hac...For_Dummies.pdf

It's located in Using Kreon drives under "Backing up Games".

i beleive u will still need the burner. the samsung kreon drives are read only to rip game and then u still need dual layer burner to burn the game to dvd+r dl

technically no, buying these drives is not the only way, you can also use versions of the xbox 360 drives to do this, but i assure it is much easier this way. i dont reccommend even looking into it as it will just cuase more confusion. what you bought was a dual layer burner, which is required to burn the game once its on your pc. these samsung drives with kreon firmware are used to copy the original game to your pc, as a regular dvd drive wont read the game. i have bought 2 from ebay so far and had no problems with them, but im sure with enough searching you can find them available somewhere else. you wont find these drives on regular retail sites and such, as they are outdated.

You should use Xbox Backup Creator to burn games because I have found that this is the most reliable method (don't forget to use the XBC engine).

Glad to help.

u said u bought the dual layer to burn your games correct? so u will still need it to burn games unless u already had another dual layer burner and got this one by mistake. just want to make sure u know u DO NEED a dual layer burner before u return that one.

maybe i need to explain better. the ISO file you speak of is the game. the reason you have to open the dvd file located with the game is because the file contains the layer break information needed to copy the image file to a Dual layer disc. when you open the .dvd file, the iso file associated with it opens as well. if you follow my instructions exactly you shouldnt have any problems. and the lg burner you bought, you will need that if you dont have any other dual layer burner, also called super multi layer burner, avalaible.

the good thing about imgburn is that if u select the .iso file and there is a .dvd file that goes with it then imgburn will automatically select the .dvd file for u and give a message that u selected the wrong file but the program corrected it for u. so as long as there is a .dvd for that iso then imgburn will correct the error of selecting the wrong file. Now if u didnt have a .dvd for that iso i dont know what would happen cause i have never tried. but it may lead to coasters i would imagine

If you use xbox backup creator to copy the game to your pc only, and not to actually burn the game, then you will always have a .dvd file. and yes, imgburn will correct your mistake for you if you choose the iso file instead of the dvd file. if the game file doesnt have a .dvd file, do not burn the image. go back to xbox backup creator and make sure everything is correct.

Oh, that samsung one wont burn DL discs? I bought this LG burner because I thought I could rip the iso to my PC and then use a program to patch it and then Burn it onto a blank disc. I did rip the iso from it using IMGBURN but I dont know what to do with it.

this is my drive http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet...ogon=&langid=EN

So I have to keep this AND also buy that samsung one in order to rip + burn the games?

Absolutely positive that it wont burn anything at all cause it is a DVD ROM drive not a dvd writer. it will read every single format u listed but it will not write to any format whatsoever. that is why it is required to read the 360 game but a different drive is required to write the iso made with the samsung drive.

Ok, before this goes any further, i really think the pople asking the questions here should do some serious searching. honestly, everything here has been answered before. even tghe tutorial i posted has been posted before. OF COURSE you have to mod your 360 in order for the backup games to work. please do a little more research on your own.

if you dont want to purchuse a kreon drive like myself, try using WxRipper but dont take ur drive apart instead use the emergency eject hole by inserting a paperclip into it. I have a pioneer-112d and it works flawlessly and is extremely quick to create the iso also. Give this a try.

The emergency hole will only work on some drives like yours... You'll need to take the drive apart if the emergency hole trick does not work for you.

is there an emergency hole on every drive, i posted the drive i had in an above post. I found a small hole at the front and tried to stick a staple in it but there was no button or i didnt go deep enough and it just went right in the drive and its gone for ever lol. The little hole was just under the drive but i dont think theres a button there but i dont see why theres a random hole..
