Hi, i do not know if anyone had faced the same problem. I post this thread as i could not find the same problems that i was experiencing.
I am a novice at mod chips and such (i bought the Wii for the kids). I thought i could use it to surf the internet other than a game console.
My Wii detected the connection to my router and the connection test was ok. When i clicked onto "Internet" button, i was prompted to connect to Wii shop channel, i did that and was prompted to do a "System Update". Not wanting to brick my set or spoil the mod, i back off. My question is; can i actually update the system and yet retain my set's mod status? Can i surf the net after updating? Please advise.
so what you are saying is, it's okay to do updates when you have a wii-key modchip? Yes?
You see, I have a wiikey modchip, I would like to use the wii shop channel but it says I must update. I can surf the net and use the other channels without any problems, but the wii shop channel asks me to update. Is it safe to update? I don't want to lose the ability to play back ups? How do I know when or when not to update? When is it safe and when is it not a good idea? Oh....um...where can I get wii games to download and play? My friend is tired of doing it for me and I am not sure where to go? Thank you for your help/advice.
