im after getting my wii chipped and using a clip with the chip soldered in the clip and then i will fit it . i think i understand how to burn the games etc but thats for another day lol

my wii serial is LEH110***** . now ive looked on 2 different websites and got recommended 2 different chips ?

has anyone used either of these chips and what are your feeling on them . is there a better one i should use or one that i should definitly not buy?

the first is a d2sun 1.35a ?

http://www.osctime.com/product_info.php/cPath/41/products_id/196

and the other is Wiikey2 chip with V14 Wiiclip ? from www.modchipcentral.com ?

but the email i got back from the modchipcentral said:

There is a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-DMS. And there is also a 50% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B (no cut pins or missing pad). I would recommend the Wiikey2 chip with V14 Wiiclip. They are $63.95 + $13.95 for shipping.

so are they saying the wiikey2 works one either set ?

do most games work on both and do your original games still work on the chips ?

can you still go online with a chip fitted ? im right into mariokart at the moment . love it .

sorry if these are silly questions but i do learn fast but ive got to start at the beginning on this subject .

thanks in advance

DMS or D2B means you can use nearly any modchip. Wiikey, Wiikey2, Argon, D2Pro9, Wasabi, D2Sun... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few...

Anyway, ALL those chips work with ALL games. Backups and originals. And ALL wii online services work with ALL modchips.

topman . is it just a matter of installing the chips or do htye need firmware discs etc ? im only asking cos ive just read the topic about the wiikey2 and its mentioned that the chap installe the chip and then instealled V1.9 firmware ????

do most chips just plug and play in theory ?

i think im going to go for the d2sun v1.35 . the chap i emailed seemed really helpful etc and i was pointed to that site from a previous buyer from there .

Most chips come with the most recent firmware, so they are just plug and play.

Also, at this point it seems unlikely that you'll need up update the firmware in the future. Aside from the wiikey update for dual layer disks (which wouldn't even have been necessary had the wiikey team not messed up with the previous firmware) there have been no necessary firmware updates to modchips in the last year.

And even the very first generation of modchips that were never upgraded to support the only diskcheck that nintendo has managed to implement can still work with a few tricks.
