from memory the only games you have to worry about that will brick your wii. paper mario metriod prime the super mario game in space. thats all I know about it from memory. it doesnt brick it but they it will update your console and leave console usless and your'll have to update your chip.

You're a bit confused. No games cause a brick, any game that contains up update can cause a semi-brick condition so long as its from a different region than your wii. Otherwise Nels419 is correct.

Well you were right in naming the games, though there's alot more on that list. Most wii games contain a firmware update, it just never runs if you're already on an equal or higher firmware so you don't see it. The ones you mentioned were all popular games that were launched with new firmwares that had not yet been released online, so they caused alot of semi-bricks when overeager newbies tried to download them without paying attention to the region.

You're confused on what a semi-brick is though. A semi-bricked wii will still play games just fine, but the wii settings and all online features are unavailable.

There are several ways to fix it. If you have a modchip and are on firmware 3.2 or lower then you can use the semi-brick fix disk.

If you already had the homebrew channel installed then there are programs you can use to fix the problem.

If you didnt already have the homebrew channel installed and bricked the console with firmware 3.3 or later then your only option is to update again with a later firmware from the proper region. So you have to wait for a game to be released in your wii's home region that contains a later firmware.

after researching it i know that real version will not have had update removed and if your system is lower than the update on the game then it will update your system and stop things from working properly, if you already have the highest version of firmware the game cannot update any higher.

If you play games from your own region, you won't have these issues.
