Hello there,
i've got a problem in modding my dvd-drive firmware, i've tried searching this forum, xbox-scene forums and tutorials, team-executer, updated all my drivers and even my motherboards bios, but nothing helped so i'm really stuck, wich is why i'm coming here.
It's a samsung ms25, and i've done some mods before on an ms28 with the same setup.
Now, my ms28 broke down, so i'm trying to fit the ms25 into my xbox by switching dvd-keys and spoofing and all that.
The sata chipset i'm using is an onboard via vt8237R.
The problem is that once i connect the sata cable to the dvd-drive, and startup both the xbox and the pc at the same time, my drive won't get recognized by the bios.
So right after the bios start-up screen, i get to a sata raid utility screen wich tries to scan for devices (the dvd drive that is). after a while it stops and tells me the device has no bios, and i can press G to continue..
My previous MS28 drive did show up from the bios start-up screen, and also at the Sata raid utility, even giving me the option of going into that bios that lets you set-up raids.
Now i've tried this drive in the xbox it came from (wich when it gets hot breaks down and shows the rrod, so i can't just keep that one) and it works perfectly, no problem at all, so that can't be the issue.
After that, i figured maybe this wouldn't be an issue, so i just booted from the floppy, typed in mtkflash r /m orig.bin and pressed enter, and it immediately gives me the port i/o screen instead of giving me the option of choosing my sata port. This tells me it doesn't see the drive, correct?
So what i think is strange, is that i used the same floppy before on my MS28, and the floppy hasn't left my drive since, didn't change anything, my computer didn't change at all (except for a new windows, wich shouldn't matter since it's probably a bios problem), i even had the sata cable still hanging out, i just plugged in the sata cable, powered both on and the error i just explained occurs.. i have really no clue as to what's going on.
As i said, i've updated everything since, clean windows install, newest sata drivers, i even flashed the latest motherboard bios, nothing helped.
1 thing i did notice is that when i ignore the message, boot into windows with the drive connected, and start-up jungleflasher (wich i'm not going to use due to bad experience from other people and bricking they're drives) i can find it on my primary sata port and it sees it as a samsung ms25, but i can't read the drive, can't get the key or anything, what i can do is the sammy-unlock thing.
So, does anyone have a clue as to what i can still try to make it work? cause i'm getting quite frustrated having tried tons of things and not 1 seems to work..
Thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm i fixed it now, the problem was that i still had a usb portable hard disk connected, wich probably conflicted with something, cause once i pull the usb cable out everything works perfectly! so this one can be closed or deleted..

Good to know I'll try that too, I have the same problem with a ms28, got the VT8237. I bought a controller card with the VT6214L because of that problem. Problem with the VT6214L is that if I power the 360 windows freezes T_T
-Still dosn't recognize the ms28 even after deplugging all my usb stuff.
