Ok I picked up a used phat psp.
The only problem it was having was when you went to save a game, and chose "yes" it would freeze.

My problem is this.
I installed CFW to 3.71 M33-2
It all installed ok.
When I go to do any other updates it verifies files ok
Says press "x" to install , "R" to cancel
But then right away it says "cancelled by user"

It has a TA-081 mobo, I only have parts for TA-082 psp's

Do I need to replace the PCB board with the flex cable? If so would the one from my TA-082 work?

I already tried just "right trigger contact" thinking that may be a problem.

Any insight would help, Thanks

Thanks for the link, I checked it out.

I also knew the wifi daughterboard must be changed if changing mobo, but nowhere does it say much about the PCB board and flex cable, or at least not that I have found.

I may just try it anyway, Thanks

The weird thing is everything works for the most part, its as if the
"R" trigger is stuck, but does not appear physically to be so.

And it does freeze the odd time when going to select something by pressing "x", a simple reboot fixes the freezing part.

EDIT: ok so instead I thought I would try another mms using PSP grader 6, and see if it would install to CFW 4.01 and it did.

I then tried updating to CFW 5.00M33 and I then got this error : CTA800000025
Well I am thinking I know nothing is wrong with the keys as I checked them and made a backup first.
But it won't let me update, saying system not compatible or something like that.

So now I have restored the nand, and am on what the person I got it from had. Its 3.95 OFW

I am going to just test it out for awhile and see if I get any errors and then perhaps try updating to CFW later.

UPDATE

Since it seemed to be working fine after restoring the nand, I decided to try larrylje Universal unbricker again and this time it worked fine when I updated to the 5.00 firmware.

Maybe the nand restore fixed everything. Keep my fingers crossed.
