I have the red ring of death plain and simple I would send it to microsoft but when hacking it I lost 2 big screws not any of the important ones but still I did and I dont think they will repair it seeing they're missing. And I did the penny trick too so is there a permenant way to fix my 360?

They will probably not fix it. I fixed my RROD by reseating the heatsinc and expanding the airducts over the heatsinc. Try those and try to run the 360 with the board out of the case. Sometimes it works.

First off, have you done the X-Clamp replacement?
Second, try to turn on your console without the fan plugged in. It should turn from the RROD to 2 red lights indicating that its overheating. Leave it like that for 10 seconds and try to load it up. Try for 10 second intervals until you get to 2 minutes.
Do the X-Clamp mod first, thats considered the "permanant fix"

do you sit ur xbox 360 standing up or laying down? sometimes it is better to lay ur xbox 360 in a cool place. not only that, if you have it for just less than 3 years, you'll be able to get some waranty from microsoft. =)

I have it laying down but I cant send it in because I lost 2 long screws not the black ones the 2 long ones. And I would have to open it again to get the penny trick thing out. So I cant send it in because of the screws. I will look at the link you posted.

oic.. well did you try to find the screws for it on ebay sometimes they sell those screws in there.... like i was saying when you find the screws for it and sending it to the microsoft than doing the ROD that the other guy posted, it will probably will cost you more than finding the screws online =) not only that, its really dangerous to do it unless you have mucho guts... lol

call the microsoft and ask them first about the warranty, and then tell them whats going on, and they might help you out. usually you could still send it to them it might take awhile, but at least you could get another xbox 360 i believe. here's the number :
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/contactus.aspx
at least no worries and you might save money. if it didnt work reply to this post and i will help you as soon as possible =)

They might but they might also reject it and ask you to pay for shipping back to you. I haven't tried it. You can buy a warranty sticker for $15 - $20 on ebay.

i have a warranty sticker for sale on ebay right now, as far as the screws i have gotten xboxs back from ms with screws missing so its not so much of a biggy, the problem is you already did the penny fix, dont bother sending it in. I have fixed 5 xboxs with the xclamp fix and i have had a 100% success rate. if you dont feel confident there are users on here that will do it for you.. including myself. but whatever you do dont waste your money buying screws. whoever wanted that warranty sticker pm me if you would like the link to the auction i am having. i started the bidding at 1$. anyone with RROD feel free to send me a pm.

what do i do once i take off the xclamps and repaste the hotskinks and everything?

I will laugh, but only because it made me think of my own deal.
I had just fixed 2 360's during the week from the RROD. They where both my bro-in-laws. Then he was having reading issues on BOTH systems. I replaced his laser eyes ( because he is my bro-in-law) and told him to quit using crap media. Verbs only from here on out.
The next day my own 360 gave me the 3ROD. I was laughing the whole 45 minutes it took to fix it.
I hate working on my own stuff lol.

couple questions. Is it necessary to have rubber washers on BOTH sides of the motherboard? and.. is it necessary to clean off the old old thermal paste before putting the new paste on? ive seen videos do it both ways.
