I replaced the X Clamp hoping I could extend the life of my 360 but I did just the opposite. After the mod I get the RROD. My console was fine before it. What could have gone wrong?

Check to make sure you don't have the screws to tight or to loose,it takes some fart knocking around to get it but it will work.

Thanks, the screws to the CPU were too tight. Loosened them a bit and it works fine now.

could i have some help please cuz im getting pretty agitated with this whole thing... I did the xclamp fix, repasted the heatsinks, etc., but now when i turn the 360 on waiting for the overheat, instead of turning on and having 3 red lights, i only get 2 and the fan turns off.
im pretty confident that its not the screws cuz i adjusted and readjusted alot with the same result. I dont know what else it could be. ive been following this guide: http://rs150.rapidshare.com/files/120304...pair_Manual.pdf . any help would be appreciated. thanks.

look to see if the heat sinks are makinging contiact to the chips. i found that using just the nylon washers was all i needed to get my xbox to work. one nylon washer per side of the board and a good tightaning of the new screws worked great, once tight try the xbox if it still gives you 3-2 rings of death tighten them a bit more.

sounds like your cpu is getting too hot. need to keep it cooler. should over heat for 15 min. if it shuts off after 10 min you should still be good. i still leave it running though.
