Hi all, please excuse my inexperience but my box has been dead for at least a couple of months now and it would be nice (if possible) to get it running again.
My box is a dreaded V. 1.0, purchased around Feb. of 2003 and manufactured in Sept. of 2002. Somewhere along the lines while trying to set-up Evox properly my box bit the dust. Now all it does is get stuck in the clock loop for an hour or so, and then boot a blue screen while FRAGing. Note: *I have no mod-chip installed in the system. I was doing one of the no-mod hacks.*
Is there anything I can do? Will buying a mod-chip help me or is my box pretty much ready for the junkyard? Any help is appreciated.
I have V1.0 and had no problems, its not "dreaded", for some reason people have made that speculation about the thompson drive as well..I have had no problems with it either...so its not your version that is the problem. I am thinking that you had a bad flash. If this is so, then a mod chip should fix it. Instead of loading to your current faulty/bad bios, it will load to the bios on the chip and you should be good to go. Once you get evox installed I also believe that you can re-flash your bios on your motherboard too.
Well, that's certainly better news than I had hoped for.
Could you (or someone else) recommend a mod-chip for me? Not too familiar with the xbox ones. My solder experience is close to none, though I could probably get someone to help me. Also, I'm kind of poor at the moment. :(
Check out www.system-mods.com they are reliable and I have the X2.3 lite and it works just fine.
AFter getting the chip, you will need to make 2 CDs...since you have a V1.0 xbox I would suggest using TDK brand CD-RWS for this. Just read up on how to make them, acutally once you get your chip and get it installed and all, if you have problems just PM me and ill tell you how to do it.
