I bough one a month ago, cost 55 quid, 3rrod, fixed it and it runs real good, been tested well. Love it.
What i dont love is the noise it makes, the dvd drive makes a gringing noise, which i read means its on its way out, it dont scratch disks but its very uneasy and sounds real bad.
So i bought an xbox 360 again, another 3 rrod from ebay, got it working 45 quid, to my amazement the drive was fine, but it was banned from xbox live. Why i was confused, as it did not mention it was flashed, so i tried a game in it (had a flashed one before, and the console ran it.)
Knowing there is no way to unban a console, i thought could i not take the drive out it and stick it in the other consle i have, same hitachi drive.
So i was thinkin switch the board in the drives for the switch, as i have seen on a few videos, but the flashed drive, will it ban my other console, or is the flash on the board itself ?
Im confussed, i want a console, but i dont wanna get banned, and i may as well get one working one out of the 2 i have here.
well, the drive making funny noises isnt always a sign its going out. I had a brand new ms28 drive once that made a lot of noise, but it never had any issues. The flash is on the board of the drive since thats where the firmware chip is. You could always flash the drive with the newest ixtreme and that may keep you from getting banned on the new one.
em no i dont want to keep the flash, i just want the drive, i dont want it flash, and i was asking cause now that means ill get the flahsed drive in my other 360, but it wont be flashed ?
the firmware flash is stored on the board inside the drive, so if you swap out boards, you will still have the flash. go through the normal steps to flash but stop once you have dumped the firmware and save it. once its saved then just find someone who has an unhacked firmware for that drive and put your key into it. dont know where you can get it, but if you ask around im sure you can find it.
take flashed drive
open it
remove the board
bin it
working console:
open my other drive with the grinding noise
take out the board
throw the drive in the bin
add the board to the other drive from the flashed console
and stick it all back together
then i have one fully functional console not flashed or banned from xbl.
I dont want a flashed console, would that process work
haha naa man, sorry for the confusion tho. Thanks for the answer, shall rip it open and fix it tomorrow, sell the flashed one for spares, working but banned.
I know this is an old post but would'nt it have been easier to just flash the original firmware with the appropriate keys?? Only takes a few minutes and you would'nt have to tear open the drive.
