Internet Explorer 8 RC 1 available for download now

article published on 27 January, 2009

Microsoft has made the first release candidate of Internet Explorer 8 available for download. The latest version of the browser boasts better standards compliance with both HTML 4.01 and CSS 2.1. There are also some new features added to IE 8, including something they're calling Accelators. Each accelerator corresponds to an online service which can be used directly on a page's content. ... [ read the full article ]

Got something to hide? I am sure it is harmless and just uses your cached IE data compared to sites on the internet that fit similarly. I highly doubt that someone at Microsoft is watching your every move. Besides I am pretty sure you can disable that. And if Firefox did the same thing I am sure you would call it a wonderful feature.

I'll get it at it's Full release, not a Beta.

Hopefully IEPro can get onto it

The suggested sites function can easily be turned on or off. It's off by default. I used the beta for a while and to be honest I quite liked it.
Firefox is still my default browser though, I'm not about to give up my add-ons.

Internet Explorer 8 RC1:

* Saves you time and effort by installing every piece of malware and spyware that is compatible with your system.
* Instantly redirects you to porn advertisements when it detects nearby family members.
* Crashes on any attempt to access online banking for extra security!
* Automatically sends all your personal details, credit card numbers, and passwords to phishing sites when you first view them. No more complex forms to fill out!

Isn't that what IE does now? Besides opening your computer up to anyone with the hacking skills of a two year old and allowing any type of malware or spyware to be installed without your consent?! I mean c'mon there are more security holes in IE that haven't been fixed since the browser was first intro'd with Windows 95. Instead of updating and adding more "security" features why don't they fix the darn thing so it's more secure. I use Firefox as my main browser due to it's being much more secure as well as the add ons. I doubt very seriously if there is anything in IE 8 that could make me change back.

For those DVD Shrink users, if you update to IE8, you won't be able to use DVD Shrink anymore.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

The big 'e' stands for many things, but mostly extinguish. It comes from Microsoft's business strategy: EEE or embrace, extend and extinguish. And that is exactly what IE did to web standards.

I will have to try the RC1 release.

Been using the beta version for the last month or so, I actually don't mind it either but it did have a few issues at first.

I had to make a lot of websites compatible.

But lately its been faster and better than firefox 3.

I do like the way you can finally delete all web browsing with one button click, instead of clicking on each tab separately.

IE8 can go and stick it, i installed an early Beta, the next morning i noticed it had screwed over vista x64 to the point drag and drop no longer worked, resorted to re-installing, so it might be RC1 but hahah no thanks im sticking with chrome.

for some reason after reading this i just think that the new internet explorer will be just full of nothing and extra spam and spyware. Ehich in the long road will mean that you will have even more windows updates following this IE update.

The problems of spyware and spam will always exist. That is why I always use internet security/and or virus protection.

A browser itself will never combat all this.

I have actually had more popups in firefox, even after I block all pop ups, than I do with IE.

Although I like them both, don't get me wrong.

This release is actually running quite nice compared to the beta.

But same using firefox I have had issues. Depends upon the user I guess and what all you do.
