according to play.com the relese date is 27/03/2009. Has it been put back to this date as it previously said 14/02/2009.

I believe most sites use 27/03/2009 as a release date for a game in being Q1 when they don't have a specific date.

Usually I would hate comments like this but in this rare case I'd have to agree, but you'd have to play the game yourself to find out. At Least by the time you guys get the game they'll have some of it fixed, we've been basically still playing the beta up until a week or 2 ago. And even now there still isn't much to it.

They are making headway but slant 6 seems to operate at a sloths pace.

Strangely enough, it took that comment to get me interested in the game...

Since I've yet to play a SOCOM game, what's it like? Or what's it supposed to be like?

Its really hard to describe, its not like any other war game out there. If you don't use teamwork you're pretty much living on borrowed time, the whole online revolves around it; its no run and gun game like cod4. If there are any of those annoying little kids they get kicked because its pretty much all adults who play the game and they won't take any of that underage bs.

I'd rent/buy combined assault or an earlier socom for the ps2 before you play the new one so you can get a feel for what the game is suppose to be about. Its likely only like 10 bucks at ebgames now.
