i'm staying in school dorm room and we have only wireless internet connection. so i would like to make connection somehow with the internet to be able to play online. About the internet: when you connect to wireless you need to input the username and psw in to the web browser and since xbox 360 doesnt have one, i am kinda stucked.

Questions:

1. is there any way how to make that kind of connection work.
2. if that doesn't work out how can i connect xbox 360 through my computer so it will take/use wireless from it?

that would be all and thanks for help or any other ideas:)

regards

Connect to the wireless network using your computer, connect 360 and computer together using the ethernet lead, enable internet connection sharing of the wireless connection from control, or bridge the ethernet connection with the wireless connection, how you do this varies on xp and vista, what operating system are you using?

check out this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/741102 u should have no problem getting on with one of those methods, read them all cause there are several. but either the bridge from laptop of the internet connection sharing withut bridge is what will work best foru most likely. in that thread i describe how to setup without bridge in order to still have internet browsing on laptop, sometimesa bridge will disable browsing for some reason.

Lol, not a big fan of vista myself, but just got a new laptop this week, so I'm adapting.

In xp, go to the control panel, then network connections, right click on your wireless connection, go to the advanced tab, and click the check box besides "allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection".
If that doesn't work for you, then disable internet connection sharing by unchecking the box. Highlight both the wireless network and ethernet connection, right click them, and click add to network bridge.

This should get you connected to xbox live.
good luck

I travel the country for work and sometimes bring my 360. I have an alternate method for you. The above suggestions are fine but below is just an alternate method that has worked for me:

Most all national chain hotels offer free wireless service to its patrons.(This may be similar to the service offered at your dorm) When using a pc and connecting for the first time the free service forces your browser to a "sign on" page regardless of what your homepage is set for. This "sign on" page is neccessary to "accept the terms of service". If you dont accept these terms you do not get internet access. Of course the 360 does not have a browser and therefore you cannot accept the terms of service. What I have done is connect my pc as usual (within properties, tcp/ip, obtain "automaticallY".) Once I "accept the terms of service" I right click my wireless connection, choose status, then details. I copy the ip, gateway, and dns to the "manual" network tab of the 360 dashboard.I also copy the mac address of my pc's wirless adapter to the "alternate mac address" tab of the 360. Then disable the wireles adapter of the pc and "IMMEDIATELY" test xbox live connection on the 360. You must do this before the "timeout" setpoint of the network. Usually 5 seconds. Now your 360 appears to the network as a "pc" that has accepted the terms of service and now has access to the outside world, i.e. internet.

One downfall of this is if your dorm's wireless ( as with some free hotel wireless networks) restricts bandwith. Meaning that after "x" amount of upload/download data then they may force you to a lesser connection speed, so you don't slow the network's other users. If so you must add a "mac-spoofing" program to your pc and spoof every time your 360 seems to lag and then repeat the above. This tricks the network into thinking you havent' violated the bandwith limit and allows you to continue at normal speeds.

Goodluck, hope this helps.

edit(this works with wired LAN, also)

just one more addition about the cable... any cat 5 or better with rj45 connectors "should" work. Your xbox and "most" pcs have mdix technology. (mdix or something like that) As I understand it this technology can reverse the tx and rx as needed,so a straight through or a crossover cat5e or better should work fine.
