I mean are there any modchips that are available that won't brick my console or ban me from xbox live or any other such problems. If there are modchips available, whats the name of the modchip?

sir.. there are a few good ones such as globe360 and infectus2. Although infectus may have bit off more than they can chew. They changed the chip and developed new software but they brick some of the older chips when used with the new programmer package. Anyway Infectus2 is the most versatile one, once they get there software developers on track. BUT KEEP IN MIND... there is NO REASON TO INSTALL A MODCHIP if your intention is to play backup copies of your store bought games. A sata pci card is cheaper and more versatile than a modchip. So if you have the time, do a bit more reading and learn about flashing your drive. You will thank me when your done.

to bd911, I am all ears. I was about to purchase a mod chip (Xbox USB kit v2) for my new Xbox360 to play my stack of copied games for personal use. I must admit that I don't understand how it works but if you would be kind enough to explain to me how to accomplish this without having to split the case I would be forever grateful.

You have to open the case. Its easy to do google it. The flashing the 360 is in the ultimate sticky at the top of this forum...Read it good and its not that hard.

i will admit those guides are a little out dated, you should open your case then go from there in regards to reading one of those guides. and to answer a question from the op you CAN still get banned even with a modchip.

sure you can get banned for modding but nearyly every instance has been related to bad rips, in my experience anyway.
