Semi-Bricked modded PAL Wii

I'm fairly new to the Wii game scene but have a lot of PC experience.

My problem is I downloaded a JAP version of Mario Tennis without realising it was JAP. Loaded it on the modded Wii and carried out the update - BIG mistake!! I now have a semi-bricked Wii which can still play all games but the settings menu has gone. I have tried everything including burning wii-system-menu-update-PAL-v290-repad.iso 5 times and none of the DVD's work. I have the homebrew channel and have tried resetting the region - no good.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can recover from this disaster? Any help would be most welcome and appreciated.

Well your going to have to drop a good 40 bucks on one of those savemii chips

but other than that your SOL. If that disk didn't work than no software will help you.
