I am running 4.01 M33 on a Slim with an authentic memory card & 1500 MB free memory. I am trying to play my Crisis Core FFVII iso file and keep getting this 80020148 error message.
Here are the current settings in the Configuration Recovery Menu:
Skip Sony Logo - Enabled
Hide corrupt icons - Disabled
Game folder homebrew - 4.XX Kernel
Autorun program at .... - Enabled
UMD Mode - Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-
Fake region - Disabled
Use VshMenu - Enabled
XMB Usb device - Memory Stick
Charge bat... - Enabled
Use M33 network ... - Enabled
Hide PIC... - Disabled
Under the advanced configuration both options (plain modules and execute boot.bin) are disabled.
I have tried formatting the flash and all four of the different UMD mode but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, it is in the ISO folder.
I can see the game icon when I look on the Memory Stick. When I try to play it, I get the PSP screen as if it is loading, then I get the message, "The game could not be started. (80020148)"
Specifically, I can't help you, but there's a number of things that might be wrong. Could be some version incompatibilities, corrupt iso, incorrect file name... If you have other ISOs, use those, and keep in mind that there are CSOs and ISOs, and their extensions must match accordingly. You can also try it without an extension at all. Just imagine every reason that it could be malfunctioning and test it to make sure it's working right, within reason of course. Don't go pandora's boxing your PSP without first doing other things.
For as long as I've been working on getting this resolved, believe me, I appreciate the effort!! My other iso(s) and cso(s) work fine, so when you mentioned the name issue, I was hopeful. Can you explain a bit more about the incorrect file name and extensions? I guess it's a newbie question, but, can I remove/change an extension? If so, how?

Thanks for this piece of advice! I figured I had altered just about every setting possible and still was getting the same message, the only thing it could be was the file itself. With nothing to lose, I deleted the file and started from scratch. It worked!
If anyone is reading this thread because you have a similar problem, this is what worked for me.
