Some of my games 'freeze' for a brief amount of time, about 1 second, almost every 15 seconds. I am not sure if the problem is with the Xbox itself since not all of my games have that problem and I am also not sure if the problem is with the discs, since they don't have any noticeable scratches. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Try to install the game on the XBOX hd then play it. Post back with your results. That could help us find the problem.

I was having this problem with my backup of Rock Band 2, I installed it to the Xbox HD and it works perfect now.

Is it flashed? Maybe your read speed is set to low. If its more than just one game and its not flashed i would say that maybe the drive needs adjusted or is going. Also if it is flashed and they are back-ups what type of media are you using?
360 Benq ixtreme 1.6, Talismoon Whispermax (blue), custom window, black metallic paint, western digital 120gb hard drive
Wii (launch console) 3.3 Twilight Hack wiigator .3g
fat PSP 3.51 m33-7
DS (original blue) g6 lite flash kit w/passcard

It is flashed. I don't know about speed settings (I didn't flash it myself). Media is Verbatim 4x DVD+R DL Singapore, burned at 2.4x.

I just want to add that the problem is now occurring with all my games (backups and otherwise). Either the games freeze momentarily or textures don't load on time.
Since everything was working fine for the last 6 months, I don't think the problem is with the games themselves.
Assuming this problem is with the drive, what can I do fix it (if anything)?
BTW: I don't plan to copy games to my hard drive since I play several different games every day and don't want to copy games to my hard drive several times per day

Quote: Dirty Disc Errors
Games crashing half way through , due to reading problems
Discs sometimes loading, and sometimes not being recognised
the classic "OPEN TRAY" problem
and also glitching FMV or slow loading games (some games are just slow, its normal so be patient)
are you sure this is the same type of problem?

I adjusted the pot but still have the same problem.
What else can I do besides buying a bigger xbox hard drive to download games to?

If your backups ever played just fine before and then suddenly began to glitch, then it is a hardware problem. Which problem? There's no clear answer. As someone suggested, it could be the DVD laser. YOu may need to adjust the dvd pot in your laser, or replace the laser for a new one.
If that doesn't fix it, I would not discard the possibility that your 360 is about going to Red Light on you. So X-clamp fix would be the best course of action.

A few months ago I had a problem with a game that would occasionally freeze my 360. The screen froze, the 360 froze, and the buttons on my controller became non-responsive. The only fix was to manually restart the 360. I suspected the problem was with my 360's overheating. I haven't played that game in a while, and luckily haven't had that problem lately. The current problem involves certain games (mainly FPSs) freezing for short periods of time every 15 seconds or so. I have also noticed that sometimes certain textures don't load on time, and low def versions are loaded instead, which look like pictures out of focus. By the way, the person who sold me this 360 told me it is already X-clamped...

Does anyone know if 360's that are already x-clamped often need to be x-clamped again? I was under the impression that x-clamping was usually a one time fix.
