I would like to softmod my wii, so I can play japan and usa ntsc backup.

which softmod is better to use with japan and usa backup ?

Are they any risk for my wii to break or overheat etc.....

I forgot to say  that my wii is a first generation and I think that I have the latess firmwire.

Go HERE to learn how to install the latest boot loader.

There is always a risk when flashing cIOS to the Wii System. But the risk is very low as long as you follow the instructions.

A brick means your system is semi inoperable or completely inoperable.

As I said above it is pretty safe to install the softmod as long as you follow directions. Also it is better to stick with games that are the same region as your Wii system. So if you have a USA Wii system stick with USA game titles. This will protect you 100% from a region brick. If you do play Import games then go HERE and read this thread on how to protect yourself from a region brick.
