Hi guys,

I have a Samsung MS25, and have tried to flash using:

iprep v008.8
ixdef 1.5
firmtool 1.3
xtreme fw 1.5
floppy and cd systems.

I followed the tutorial textbook, and managed to save the original fw. when writing the samcfw.bin, the program freezes either on wiriting banl 0 or 1, and the computer needs rebooting.

Upon going into windows to backup the samofw.bin, it was the wrong size at anly 187Kb.

So i'm assuming that I don't have the full original firmware, and so the samcfw.bin is wrong. I also realise that i can't take the original fw off the drive again, as it erases it once you try to write.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

easy fella, kids post here from time to time, be easy with the language.

and to op

if you managed to get the key from it it doesnt matter if you have the full firmware file or not. open firmware toolbox, get it from xbins, and load up your samofw or whatever you named it and just highlight the key that shows up and copy it and then load up ix15sam and copy that key into that firmware then use dosflash32 to flash it. some people say to stay away from dosflash but ive flashed countless drives with it lately and it works perfect.

Ok, so I managed to get the key from the firmware that iprep made, and it is in the right kind of format, a mix of letters and numbers. I have then integrated the key with the FW, no problem.

I still can't flash though. In iprep and dosflash using DOS, the drive is recognised, and the firmware erased ok, but it still freezes when trying to write the first bank. when trying to use mtkflash, I can't even see the drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers mike, but still no joy

still got the problem with flashing. So far I have tried:

dosflash32 - the drive is seen, but then an error comes up "Error Deleting Flash"

dosflash 16 - freezes during writing bank 0, have got to writing bank 1 twice, but don't know how. Have tried power cycles at different stages of flashing with no difference.

mtkflash - doesn't recognise drive "no drive found"

iprep uses dosflash16 i think - same problem.

I'm so stuck, any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance!!!

not sure why i didn't think of this in the first place, try the bad flash recovery. use mtkflash and when you go to pick your device that you are supposed to be flashing turn the xbox off and count to 10 and then turn it back on and it should start to flash instantly. it may take a few tries but it will work eventually, or at least it should.

Cheers again, but stil no luck. I tried to use the most recent mtkflash (1.83c). I'm booting using ntfs4dos cd, and unplugging that drive before running mtkflash for safety. Then I type mtkflash w /m bin.bin (that's my hacked fw). I get "mtkflash by ...." then "please wait...No Drive Detected". If i Leave my CD drive connected, then it freezes on "Port 170, Master/Slave:a0" I've tried cycling the power at differnt stages, but no luck. I also tried an older version of mtkflash, 1.63, but this freezes on "mtkflash by Joseph..." So I don't get the opportunity to choose a drive at all. The drive is stil being recognised in dosflash32 and 16. I'm pulling my hair out because it must be some simple step i'm missing, but I just don't know what it is!

Hey jeezyc, what about JungleFlasher 43 beta?? All you need to do is manually install the PortIO32 driver in Vista and you can flash your MS25 in Windows, that's of course if you drive is stock. If not you would need the enable800.iso to unlock the drive if it's already been flashed ixtreme 1.4 or so, this method has worked great for me. This is just an option, of course you can always use dosflash 32.. I've had nothing but success with dosflash32 and the JungleFlasher, both have worked great for me.

You didn't think of it in the first place because you dont know what your talking about. XD

The badflash method is used to unlock firmguard on MS28 or hacked firmwares. He cannot begin to use the badflash method without the drive being detected. If he's flashed the drive and it locked up, his samsung is bricked and he will need to try to erase it to start over.
To the op
What chipset are you using, im guessing V6421, what programs are you trying to use to write?

Hi guys, thanks so much for everyones help. For those with a similar problem, the answer was simple, on my Sata card, there was a port on the side of the card, inside the case of my PC. I tried using this and it works every time. Piece of cake, but a bit ridiclous.

So now I have a slightly different problem, I have flashed the drive with 0800 FW in order to try and read the game, in XBC the drive is seen but I always get the message "MEDIA TYPE - NOT PRESENT", and obviously can't continue, fun. Any help would be a charm.

as for your sata card port issue, it worked only on that one because that is the primary channel, or channel 1. as for your other issue, not sure as i havent used the 0800 method, i just use my kreon samsung drive.

I have a blaster 260, so updating the FW on my xbox ODD isnt a problem. Once I have the 0800 FW on it, it shows in my computer with no problems what so ever, but always says there is no media present in xbox backup creator. I'll try the other program, cheers
