I am now connected to xbox live again after restoring my laptop to factory default ,which took all day.
I can stay on there if i dont turn off my pc, sleeping it is fine.
but if i shut down and restart i get "ip failed" notice. and so i stuff around for hours or days trying to get back on live which sometimes works but usually not... and so i reset my system again and reinstall everything and then i hook up no probs but a big hassle. I've viewed hundreds of things telling me how to, but nothing really works. I have a USB modem thats set as a "dial up" in network connections. i use vista and an ethernet cable. If you can help me i would be stoked! PLEASE HELP someone

would changing the ip ardress fix it, open the command prompt and type ipconfig/renew, fixed mines.

after working fine all day i left it idle for about 5 hours. then when i turned xbox on and reconnected internet it didnt work-giving me the usual "ip address failed", so i tried command prompt-"ipconfig
/renew" and it says "no operation can be preformed on wireless network connection while it has its media disconnected"
Then after about 2 mins this comes up "an error occurred while renewing interface local erea connection :unable to contact your DHCP server. request has timed out"please forgive me for not understanding this but any help would be sooooo good. thank you.
