Hi, I have one of the toshiba drives that read wii games and a wiikey 2 installed properly. Here is my problem when I dump the game everything seems fine, the image is the proper size, so the I use imgburn at 4.0x to burn the image on verbatim dvd-r. when I stick it in the wii it just locks up and gives a loud screeching sound, I have to cut the power off to reset, I thought it was a mod problem, but I can download a torrent image and burn it and it plays perfect. I have tried about 10 times so far and all I can do is make coasters, I was wondering if there is some option that I am missing somewhere. Oh also when the image burns wheather download or copy the buffer does drop sometimes all the way to zero and the software pauses but restarts, but the download still plays fine, any help or ideas would be appreciated, Thanks

You are In a perfect position to test/verify whether or not your drive can REALLY rip Wii discs.

Acquire (I recommend rent) an actual disc and make a backup of one of the .isos that you downloaded and do a fc (filecompare) between the two .iso files. If the fc is not successful, your drive is not ripping the information correctly.

If you can burn D/Led .iso that work but can't burn any of your own rips it points to a bad source file.

I had a drive I thought was ripping games, but none of them worked. Turns out some drives seem like they're reading, but they're not, or at least not reading it correctly. I had to get one of the LG drives before I could get it to work.

Ok I have taken the dvd rom out and looked at it, the model number says gdr-8164b. when I ordered it it was advertised as an lg-gdr-8164b, does that make a difference.

Doesn't matter. Rawdump recognizes the drive so at some level it must be close enough.

We are talking about the integrity of your rip. You won't know whether or not your drive really works until you can create one working rip.

filecompare against a known good rip is the only way to tell, short of having a rip that works.
