cant flash starview the box using vista

hi guys can anybody help me, i recently bought a new laptop and gave away my old one.trouble is the new laptop has vista and my usb serial converter lead wont work,it worked fine with xp i know vista has driver compatabilities problems.is there any software to download that can fix this,or is there an other usb seriel lead that i could buy which would definatly work.any help on this would be great thanks guys.

You and countless other's your best bet is to try and find someone with xp and a serial port because you'll only end up tearing your hair out

hi there i had the same problem with my laptop id flashed about 20 boxs with mine using vista and it was ok then my laptop went down had to get it repaired and the repair consisted re doing vista so when i got it back i could not flash any boxs so i was talking to a mate and he said to go back to xp so i got xp onto my laptop and its now working great again iv flashed another 10 boxs since so the only way round this is to get xp back on laptop you could try the startech web site they do a download for usb adaptors its the db9 adaptor but best of luck ian

it should say on one of the front corners of the box what it is,or if not turn ur box of and on and it will come up on the screen what it is,the box,the box super etc.

using vista you will need a prolific driver-pl2303. also the cheap leads available on some sites are only good for xp.

thanks fuerte197 and hadmad,tried that link and downloaded pl2303 driver. its installed but not working,i hooked up my box to my usb seriel lead and tried to flash the new software,but the percentage figure for the flash never changed from zero.am i missing something out here,anymore ideas or help be much appreciated thanks.

hi iv just tryed that driver down load and gess what it does not work for my vista iv got onother laptop on xp and i have downloaded 10 boxs with that one dead easy its def vista thats the problem if you live on the wirral ill come and sort your box out ian

Flashed my digivox-t successfully today with usb- rs232 lead using vista.
Your lead must be compatiable with vista, correct driver version installed.
Ensure your coms port the usb is assigned to, is matching with the coms port the downloader uses.
If I've done it guys, it sure isn't that difficult .
